Overview and Location

Dhikala forest rest house is located in the heart of Corbett national park on the bank on ramganga reservoir. Dhikala forest rest house or Dhikala forest lodge is managed by forest department of Corbett National Park and provides largest facility to the visitors of the Jim Corbett National Park to stay inside the forest. Picturesque location and beautiful surroundings make it an ideal place to stay away from the hustle bustle of city life. Dhikala forest rest house is the only forest rest house within the Corbett Tiger Reserve which provides the facility of electricity within the rooms and thus is ideally suited for families. In order to reach Dhikala forest rest house , one has to enter the Corbett National Park via Dhangarhi gate. Dhikala is named after the huge grassland known as dhikala chaur, which is one of the major attractions of Dhikala zone. The journey from Dhangarhi to Dhikala forest rest house is adventurous and provides many opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Accommodation

Dhikala forest rest house has a total room inventory of 25 rooms which is further classified into 05 wings as mentioned below:-

• 04 rooms - New Forest Rest House, Dhikala
• 05 rooms - Old Forest Rest House, Dhikala
• 07 rooms Annexe room Dhikala
• 06 Hutment rooms, Dhikala
• 03 Cabin rooms, Dhikala

Apart from rooms, Dhikala forest lodge also has 02 dormitories, with 12 beds in each dormitory. Bathrooms in the dormitories are common.

Entry Timing

One can enter Dhikala range via Dhangarhi Gate and the entry timing to Dhikala range from this gate is 10:00 AM till 4:00 PM.
Corbett Tiger Reserve remains closed during the monsoons. All ecotourism zones of Corbett Tiger Reserve are closed to visitors for night halts from 15th June to 14th November. The Bijrani Zone remains closed for day visits from 30th June to 14th October. The Dhikala, Lohachaur and Sonanadi Tourism Zones are closed for day visits also from 16th June to 14th November. From 1st to 15th June, these ecotourism zones remains on standby mode and advance reservations are not done as during this time these zones can be shut down by Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve at short notice on considerations of visitor safety due to bad weather conditions.

Fooding

The food in Dhikala forest lodge is not a problem as there are two canteens within the premises of lodge. One of them is run by Kumaon mandal vikas nigam which is run by the tourism department of uttarakhand and offers buffet meals. Other canteen in dhikala forest lodge offers food in alacarte menu.

Bookings

Bookings of Dhikala rooms are mainly divided into offline and online rooms. 17 Online rooms are booked online through official website of corbett national park and 8 offline rooms are alloted by booking office available at Ramnagar. 17 online rooms are further divided in Indian and foreign quota with 12 and 5 rooms respectivly.

Payments Terms

• To ensure confirmed booking for any services, an advance is taken which can be later balanced with the total amount for the availed services.
• The service provider holds the right to decide upon the advance payment amount for any booking.
• The advance amount taken from any tourist is based on the nature of different services as well as availability of availability in terms of time and arrangements.
• In special cases like rush hour booking due to festive or peak seasons, the service provider is entitled to ask for a full payment prior to the actual visit. This help in confirmed and hassle free bookings.
• Overseas advance payment is very easy and the amount asked can be paid through wire transfer to a designated bank account or through Mail Authorization with the help of Master/Visa credit card.
• Within India, the payment can be made either through currency notes or traveler’s cheque. Master/Visa / American Express credit card are also accepted for the enlisted services. Payments through credit cards are levied with the applicable bank charges in addition to the total amount to be paid to the service provider.

Refund

• The refund amount is decided on the basis of above mentioned cancellation policy.
• The refund money is non transferrable and the money would be accordingly refunded to the actual person making the initial payments.
• The refund process may take 2 – 4 weeks due to banking procedures.
• The applicable bank charges would be debited from the refund amount if the refund is made to any credit card account or to a regular Bank account.
• In case of special rout/tour the cancellation policy will not be applicable in peak. For these month all amount will be charged as retention. Contact the service provider to know these special routs and packages. A special cancellation policy is applicable in this regard.
